Vektoren in VHDL
In VHDL kann man zum Glück mit Vektoren arbeiten, sie dienen der wesentlichen Erleichterung. Ein Vektor ist ein Zusammenfassung von Signalen zu einem eindimensionalen Arrays (Feld). Der Laufindex wird durch eine Zahl dargestellt.

Die Namen der Signale werden aus dem Signalnamen und dem Laufindex bestimmt.
Zuweisungen und VerknüpfungenDurch die Hilfe von Vektoren ist es ziemlich leicht, mit nur einer einzigen Anweisung eine Operation parallel auf alle Einzelsignale oder einer Teilmenge davon auszuführen.

Du musst dabei besonderst beachten, dass man sowohl aus einem Ziel als auch aus der Quelle Teile herausgreifen kann und mit dem Operator ´&´ein breiter Vektor erstellen lässt. Nur die Breiten von Ziel und Quelle müssen dafür dieselbe Größe besitzen.
Eine weitere speziell Zuweisung von konstanten Werten siehst du bei der Darstellung als Hexadezimalzahl mit x“Zahl“.
Verwende bei Zuweisungen von konstanten Werten denn Unterstrich er wird dir Helfen eine bessere Kennzeichnung zu erstellen und dich somit bessere in deinen alten Aufzeichnungen oder Projekten zurechtzufinden.
Falls du einem Vektor bzw. seinem allen bisherig nicht belegten Positionen, sprich Einzelsignalen, denselben Wert Zuweisen willst, dann verwende das Kommando
Others=>´Wert´

Positionsbestimmung innerhalb eines Vektors in VHDL Einzelsignale werden in einem Vektor stets von links nach rechts angeordnet. Bei einer Zuweisung von Vektoren werden die Einzelsignale mit selber Position miteinander Verknüpft. Bei der Beschreibung eines Vektors ist es Hilfreich mit dem Schlüsselwort „downto“ zu arbeiten, weil dann die niedrigsten Werte ganz links und umgekehrt stehen. Besonders wichtig ist dieses Vorgehen wenn der Vektor nicht als Feld von Signalen sondern als Dualzahl interpretiert wird.

Das Beispiel verdeutlicht dass die Variante „downto“ der herkömmlichen Darstellung von Dualzahlen entspricht. Machs dir leicht und gewöhne dir als Erstes diese Variante und später entscheidest du selbst.
